yeah, like why is there no tut on how to run vlc together with you addon?

your addon sounds like a great idea, I made everything what you said in your instructions, but it won't work.

using debian. i installed once vlc with apt-get install vlc, but when trying to stream, the pages just hangs up (somehow loading and loading but no results), ps -a tells me that vlc is working an consuming cpu/mem. but when I try to open the stream url, I get an error "stream not found"..

its on my local pc/server, no fw

sorry about the delay, I have not been very involved with torrentflux lately.
Debian packages usually dont include codecs such as mp3 etc because they are not opensource. if some codecs do not work you may need to compile the codecs from source and recompile vlc from source also. For more information read by howto on page 2.

I have changed servers recently so the mod is now hosted on:

http://tdownload.org/

Don't worry i have already updated my first post

btw luke i do run my own hosting service http://tdownload.org/

I have noticed that some clients I am hosting torrentflux accounts for sometimes forget to stop vlc streams (which causes high server load) I have made a script to kill vlc when no streams are running

Just add this as a cronjob:

*/3 * * * *     root    php /path/to/checkportandkillvlc.php

the script is at:

http://torrents.openleague.org/checkportandkillvlc.php.tar

For extra effectiveness i have also done include('checkportandkillvlc.php'); in the vlc-mod's main script (streamvideo1.php my version or Vlc.php b4rt's version)

similar question, using fedora core 4 on my server.
finally mangaed to get the plugin installed when i realised i did'nt have vlc install in the server. after much googling. i got it to install.
since its a command line server, i know i wont be able to watch videos on it (using putty to control it) what i'd like to know too, is how to get vlc program to run in the background so this plugin can run.

great idea, exactly what i was looking for  TF Love

as usual sorry for the delay. The code deals with the backgrounding of vlc you dont need to worry about starting it manually through putty. Furthermore to your post I would like to mention that the version of vlc  fedora provides will not be able to do anything usefull as it will not have been compiled with many codecs. What you will need to do is follow my instructions on page 2 and compile vlc manually. As always I am available to offer support through msn (  mr_molez@hotmail.com  )
